Spring Season Goals

Girls spring track is off to a great start! As we delve a little deeper into the season, the team is starting to realize their potential and start to determine which events suit them best and gain confidence. Last week, we discussed the importance of setting goals so I had the team sit down and really think about what they want to accomplish this season. I had them sit down and write it out including their individual goals, team goals, how they will achieve these goals and what they can do to encourage one another. From a coaching perspective, I want to understand their vision and do everything that I can to help the team reach these goals.

Today at practice we revisited our goals with a "goal poster." The top includes our team goals and the bottom section explains how we are going to reach them. Each runner signed the sneaker and we hung the poster next to the school records board where they can see it everyday. We wanted it to be visible so that we can all be reminded of what we want to achieve and what we need to do. We also discussed the concept of "team over self," which is something that we will be exercising this season. Track is a unique sport where athletes compete individually to score points collectively for the team. We talked about the importance of teamwork and what that looks like on a track team. We couldn't be more excited for our first meet next week against Medfield!

Take a look at our goals below!
